At Orlando Cosmetic Surgery we would feel remiss if we did not mention cosmetic surgery stories that make headlines.  Often the headlines spin questions about procedures endorsed by celebrities.  Hitting the top of hot topics for Hollywood news this month was Ariel Winter’s recent post-surgical appearance on the Red Carpet at the Emmy Awards Ceremony.  She is most known for her role as the brainy teen-ager, “Alex,” on the hit show, Modern Family, and this is her story:

Too Much of a Good Thing

Every young girl looks forward to the development of her figure, but Ariel, who was a size 32F at age 15, began to view her breast development and her self image in very dim light.

At 5′,1” in height, her large bosom became the heart of ridicule in news media and a constant source of back pain during long hours of working on the set.  Meanwhile, she had to deal with being strapped down and disguised in bulky clothes to accomplish the age of her role in the television series.  Ironically, the character she plays is her age.

It should be noted that Ariel, at 17 years old, is an emancipated minor, but many of her family were supportive of her big decision;  In June of this summer, Ariel Winter decided to have a breast reduction.

Revealing Her Story

In a remarkably poised and genuine Glamour News interview, she shared her impressions and experiences, saying, “It’s hard enough being a teenager in life, but being on one of the most popular and critically-acclaimed sitcoms drew heightened interest.”

Her early and large development also attracted whispers, rumors and stares, as well as humiliating posts and message boards online.  She summarized her plight, stating, “I was 15 years old with [size] F [breasts],” It’s like, ‘How do you navigate that?”

She was very open about another common reason for breast reduction surgery.

“It was so painful.  I had a lot of back problems.  I really couldn’t stand up straight for a long period of time.  It started to hurt so bad that I couldn’t take the pain.  My neck was hurting so bad and I actually had some problems with my spine.  I had been discussing my chest with doctors for many years, but when I finally said, “I’m thinking of doing this,” he said, “Your back is going to thank you so much.”

She also candidly explained, “I also think there’s some good that can come from [telling] my story.  It’s something that I did, to better my life and my health and I think that can benefit a lot of young girls.  I have felt more happy with myself than I ever have.  I am living a dream that a lot of girls my age would love to be living and I’m aware of that.  I’m really grateful that I’m able to do that and have a voice that I’m able to speak to teenagers.”
