New Technology Improves Breast Reconstruction By Meghan Yost / Fox 35 NewsORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL Fox 35) – For Yudelka Santana Hernandez, breast cancer is more than just a disease.  “When you have two, and three and four person that have this disease, it becomes a tragedy,” Santana Hernandez says.

It’s a tragedy that took the lives of her mom and two aunts. After testing positive for the gene linked to breast cancer, Santana Hernandez decided not to be the next victim. The 29-year-old opted to have both of her breasts removed and reconstructed.  “You are worried also because you are thinking that my own body is going to hurt me,” Santana Hernandez says.

But thanks to new technology, what would have once required her to go through multiple surgeries is now being done with just one. “It’s quite simply amazing,” says Orlando Cicilioni, MD, Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Florida Hospital.  Read Entire Article
