Breast Lift: A Way to Beauty, Confidence and Comfort

Breast Lift: A Procedure for Beauty, Confidence and Comfort

As we have explained previously, a breast lift will bring an uplifted contour to your shape without bringing you extra size or volume.

According to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, “A breast lift restores a firmer, perkier, and more aesthetically pleasing shape to sagging breasts.”

Likewise, experts tell us, “This not only can improve a patient’s appearance by restoring her youthful, feminine proportions, but also help clothing, bras and swimsuits fit more comfortably and attractively.”

Your cosmetic surgeon will accomplish your new breast contour three ways during your breast lift.

1. Excess or stretched skin will be removed.

2. The breast tissue can actually be reshaped.  In some cases, if one breast is bigger than the other, this can be corrected.

3. The nipple as well as the areola are pulled up to a more pleasing angle, pointing forward, instead of hanging or drooping down.

4. The Areolae might need to be reduced in size as well as raised.  By raising the nipple & areola into a more forward position, a cosmetic surgeon can create a more youthful breast contour.

5. Likewise, stretched, enlarged areolae is an effect that can be reversed.  The areolae can be made smaller during your breast lift surgery.  This step will create “an overall better proportioned, natural looking breast.

Reasons for Selecting the Breast Lift Procedure

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: A breast lift, done either with or without the addition of implants, can restore your shape or smooth your contour if motherhood has caused some stretching or sagging.

Weight Loss: If you have improved your health and vitality, by losing a significant amount of weight, you can also lose the swell of your bust, or breast volume.   “A breast lift can help restore a more proportional, youthful breast shape by removing excess skin.

The Heartbreak of Ptosis: Some women have never gotten to enjoy a lifted, perky looking bosom.  Even in their teen years, they had Ptosic (drooping) or tubular breasts.  With a breast lift, a new profile and contour can be chosen for beauty, comfort and self-confidence

Her Secret: A Breast Lift from Orlando Cosmetic Surgery

There are a number of incision techniques that can be used for the breast lift.  Your cosmetic surgeon will make a decision about which incision will give you the most aesthetic results.  Various factors will be discussed with you after examination and consultation for your breast lift surgery.

The surgical technique used will differ due to the excess skin, the breast tissue and the patient’s objectives.  Each case has its own individual requirements.

Crescent Lift: Minimal Scarring to Correct Minimal Sagging

Suppose your breasts are small, and your droop is slight.  Your cosmetic surgeon could choose to utilize the “crescent lift” technique.   This incision runs halfway around “the top half of the edge of the areola.  Typically, a crescent lift is done when the patient has also elected a breast augmentation, but it is not the most popular technique.

The Peri-Areolar or “Donut” Lift:

Again in cases of mild sagging, the surgeon might elect to do the breast lift with a circular incision around the edge of each areola.  Like the Crescent incision, this is most effective when implants will also be placed.  This type of lift “can also be effective in helping reduce areola size.  The resulting scar traces the edge of the areola.”

Vertical or “Lollipop” Lift: Corrects Moderate Sagging & Provides More Extensive Reshaping

The most common or popular breast lift is the vertical, lollipop lift. It allows the removal of extra skin as well as re-sculpting of the breast.  There will be two incisions on each breast:  “one around the edge of the areola,” and one vertical incision from the bottom of the areola to the fold of the breast on the under side.

Obviously, the scar looks like a light lollipop in shape.

The Dramatic Anchor Lift: Defeating the Challenge of Extensive Sagging

If a patient’s breasts are “pendulous,” with considerable sagging, the surgeon will possibly us an Anchor lift.

This style of lift permits the surgeon to remove a large amount of extra skin and sagging tissue.  In such cases, there will be 3 incisions:

A. One incision will be placed around the edge of the areola,
