A facelift can be the the key to a woman’s beauty and confidence in her private or professional life. A facelift becomes essential a woman has more energy and youth than her face reveals. At Orlando Cosmetic Surgery, and Altiora Plastic surgery, our doctors have brought the facelift into the 21st century with art, science and technology.
A Facelift For Carol: When A Vacation Takes On New Dimension
Orlando Cosmetic Surgery begins this article with a fictional mini-case study–a short story:
Meet Carol, the young-at-heart founder and CEO of her own company. After seven years of ignoring vacation time, Carol surprised her office staff by declaring she was taking a full three weeks for R and R.
They applauded their hard-working chief executive’s resolve, and adjourned to the break-room.
(As they looked at the tight lines around her lips and the sag in her jaw, the youthful gang in the company break-room observed that the poor woman looked like she needed a relaxing trip.)
Carol’s assistant office manager, Ashley, sipped green tea and commented, “Her work is amazing, but the wear and tear is taking its toll on her face.” Trent, the new man in the office mused, “I wonder how old she is.”
Laura stopped her texting, swiped a cookie from pink box and said, “Who can tell these days? I’m 32, but with my Botox, I got carded last night!”
“Oh, she’s way beyond Botox,” declared Ashley, “But a vacation at the beach is good for you no matter how old you are.”
Of course Carol overheard them from the hall, but she only smiled wisely as she exited. They were right, to a certain extent.
Facelift Financing: Her Budgeted Decision, in Place of A Typical Vacation!
The best place to take this year’s vacation was at her cosmetic surgeon’s office. She knew her facelift would intesify her confidence, but she was also a sensible woman. She understood her facelift would not make her look 22 again. She is looking forward to her surgery. However, she is not heaping the facelift procedure with fantastical expectations or impossible goals of beauty.
She had enjoyed Botox, and Juvederm. She had used peels and lasers to maintain her unique look far beyond her 57 chronological years.
To her it was part of professional business upkeep. She had created a successful company. She loved the energy generated by her youthful staff. Looking too old or too tired to keep up with them was out of the question for her.
What’s more, with her excellent health, she did not feel her age. Her look did not really match her drive and energy level.
That’s why her “vacation,” was actually a face-lift with a simultaneous eye job and a mini-brow lift and neck work with Kybella. Her down time of three weeks, all of which she really doesn’t think she will need due to good health, will be dedicated to healing and resting up before resuming her CEO duties.
How To Improve Appearance of Age in the Mid-face and Neck
With all the excitement over injectables and other non-surgical discoveries, you might think that the face-lift is outdated. Nothing could be further from the truth. According to Allure magazine, March, 2017, the surgical procedure is rising in popularity. In fact over 28 percent more people had face-lifts in 2015 than in 1997.
In a way the Non-invasive treatments have de-mystified plastic surgery. Such treatments have allowed people from all walks of life to put cosmetic surgery into their comfort zone. Likewise surgeons have updated the face-lift procedure, and as we have said previously, it is no longer the same as your great grandmother’s face-lift surgery.
A Face-lift Review
The procedure is designed to concentrate on the lower face and neck, which is why women like Carol in our story often opt for a combo of surgical procedures. Blethoplasty or a brow lift partner is well with in the face-lift surgery.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the traditional face lift concentrates on the mid-to-lower area of the face. The surgery helps to correct or improve:
1. Sagging caused by relaxation of the skin of the face,
2. Some Deepening of the fold lines between the nose and corner of the mouth. Carol’s lines are deeper than most because of her willful cigarette smoking as a youth.
3. Fat, fullness and contour that has fallen or has disappeared. (See our previous article, describing the wonders of analogous fat.)
4. Jowls, those tell-tale sagging little pouches that ruin a nice jaw line,
5. And last but not least, the operation will resolve loose skin and “excess fat of the neck that can appear as a double chin or “turkey neck “wattle.”
6. You will note that the texture and tone of the skin are not mentioned above. These are separate issues, and her doctor will use laser treatment to address some of these separate problems. This will mean a little more down-time for Carol, but that is why she has planned her three week “vacation” time.
Great Expectations and Goals: Face-lift is not the Fountain of Youth
Carol is a very practical person. She does not expect the surgery will make her look 39 years old again. She is hoping for a look that is refreshed, revitalized and rested, but still her.
At 56, she intensely dislikes the tired, moody look that sagging skin and age have brought her. She hardly knows the woman in the mirror. At the online resource from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, she found extensive information about the procedure. You can also read the facts, not the fantasies that this amazing surgery can accomplish at that reliable online site, on the next link, below.
“A facelift removes excess skin, tightens underlying tissues and muscle and re-drapes skin on the face and neck. It can correct mid-face sagging, marionette lines, jowls and a double chin, maintaining its reputation as the ‘gold standard’ for facial rejuvenation.”
Most advisers will tell you to discuss your goals for any type of cosmetic surgery in detail with your surgeon before committing yourself to an operation. “You are more likely to be happy with the results of your face-lift if you have clear, realistic expectations about what the surgery can achieve and if you share these thoughts with your plastic surgeon.”
At the current time, there are no non-surgical rejuvenation treatments that can achieve the same results as a complete face-lift. The non-surgical procedures help achieve a look that is a more revitalized look for a while.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, they merely “delay the time at which a face-lift becomes appropriate and complement the results of surgery.”
In our next blog we will bring you more of Carol’s story, and the incredible advances and refinements that have recently been made in face-lift surgery.
